Nicola Senin is associate professor of manufacturing processes and systems at the University of Perugia, Italy.
He is fellow of the EUSPEN (European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology) and AITEM (Italian Association of Manufacturing Engineers) and is a member of the international advisory board of the IOP journal Surface Topography: Metrology and Properties.
His main research interests are in advanced manufacturing processes and manufacturing metrology, with past and ongoing international collaborations that include MIT, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Worchester Polytechnic Institute in the USA; the National Physical Laboratory, the University of Huddersfield and the University of Nottingham in the UK; Politecnico di Milano and Università di Padova in Italy, in addition to various companies and research centres worldwide.
Nicola has authored more than 80 publications in refereed journals, books and conference proceedings, in the subject of advanced manufacturing and manufacturing metrology, and has co-edited an international book on manufacturing and tolerances published by Springer.
Nicola was recently awarded a EC IEF Marie-Curie senior research fellowship for the surface metrology project METROSURF, which was run in collaboration with the University of Nottingham.
Currently, he is visiting academic in the Manufacturing Metrology Team at the University of Nottingham, working on advanced metrology solutions for additive and advanced manufacturing processes. Nicola is working at the development of original methods and algorithms to solve surface and dimensional metrology problems to support manufacturing process development, optimisation and control.
